Sparkly Like A Fish

I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and make my blog a Facebook page, so if you'd like to "like" the page, click the button on the right sidebar! :)

I actually sold this top yesterday, I purchased it last week during a season clearance sale at a local boutique. I just felt like I'd absolutely wreck the shirt if I kept it to wear during the year, and be shedding what looks like shiny pink fish scales all over the place, so I bought it for my online shop listings. Still, I figured I'd try on the top before letting it go, and show you how cute it is!

Top: MM Couture, sold
Pants: J. Crew, thrifted
Shoes: Merona, thrifted

It was $66 originally, I sold it for about half that price, which is a steal for such a cute top. Here's a glimpse of what else I got:

Brands: BCBGeneration, Max & Cleo, MM Couture, Aryn K., and Tulle

Most of these are listed in my Ebay store, but I'm keeping the strapless one and the yellow trench for now. If you want any of the others, you may want to snatch them before I change my mind. :) But seriously, because I need to stop expanding my wardrobe.

Also, check back after midnight tonight for our first giveaway, yay!

A Men's Blazer & Some (Less Odd) Finds

[I have some exciting news! 49 Dresses will be hosting its first giveaway this week. Check back on Friday for the details!]

Last week I went to a local thrift store that I had entirely forgotten the existence of. Good thing I remembered, because this is a pretty good haul! I got all of this stuff for $4, because they sell on a per bag basis. So...that's an average of $0.27 per item. :)

Purple Colorblock Tank Dress

Printed Bubble Hem Dress

Shirt for refashioning

Banana Republic Capris; actually my mother's find, but it went in the bag, therefore it belongs in this post.

White Peasant Blouse

Gray Buttondown Cardigan

Express V-Neck Tee

Forever 21 Hi-Low Dyed Tank

Men's Linen Blazer--for refashion

Vintage Mint Dress, with awkwardly sheer skirt. Refashion.

Vintage Gray Chiffon Dress with Ruffles

Vintage Coral Skirt

Red Leather Belt
Tommy Hilfiger Wedges

Alfani Watercolor Slingbacks
Half of these are vintage or outdated or just perfect candidates for future refashion projects for whatever other reason.

The Alfani heels don't even fit me. They were just cute and basically new, so they'll be for sale. Check my store listings for those!

I legitimately think I might be crazy for buying the men's blazer. The fact that I spent the entire afternoon making poor attempts to alter it confirms my suspicions. But it's coming along, and I refuse to give up after putting so much time into it already. Maybe God's trying to teach me some perseverance, I can only hope. Because the alternative is me being ignorant and stubborn.

But I digress. If I can somehow piece it back together into an acceptable piece of attire I'll post the results without a moment's hesitation. Cross your fingers.

Rewind

I just found this old outfit post that I never managed to post, which is a shame because I love this dress! I got it last year from Goodwill (where else?) for $4. It was a size 2X, so I sewed it in a few inches on both sides. I still left it fairly loose to maintain a fuller skirt. As a result, it looks like a nightgown without the belt. And I may or may not wear it like that around the house. No shame.

Dress: thrifted ($4)
Shoes: Rainbows ($48)
Belt: thrifted ($1)

I'm sort of obsessed with the embroidery.

Also, excuse my ridiculously expensive flip flops. It's doesn't help that the rest of my outfit only cost $5...but they were a college-kid-who-walks-everywhere-all-the-time-and-needs-good-shoes investment. If that's a thing, that is. My Sperry's and Toms fit into this category as well. They all do a wonderful job of saving my arches and destroying my budget-friendly outfits.
